What brides recommend it for

• Australian shop selling the sample gowns it makes for large bridal labels; her one-of-a-kind raw silk crepe dress was 170 and shipped from Australia to the US in two weeks because it was stock, not custom. Later sold out of samples.
• A 16-foot veil covered in purple flowers, plus tiara, jacket, hanger, garter and jewellery from Etsy sellers; only the underwear disappointed. Look for shops rated 4.8-4.9. This shop's listings are currently empty.
• The one shoulder cape jumpsuit the brides is buying. Shop will make it to her measurements but she does not think she can choose the fabric. She had not received it at the time of the discussion.
• Ordered from a Ukrainian seller who accepts returns; made to her measurements in her colour, far cheaper than US or UK pricing. Advises checking return policy and buyer review photos first.
• 200 dollars for a late-70s or early-80s beaded gown listed only as pre-2000s with no tags or history; it fitted with no alterations but is fragile, smells of long storage and needs steaming
• Custom order at about a quarter of local boutique price; she answers fast, sized it from a tailor-taken measurement list, and resewed the whole dress free when ivory was mentioned too late.
• Gown made to her measurements with her own change of blue in the underskirts, shipped New Zealand to UK for under 400 delivered; says any Etsy maker in your style will work to measurement.
• £583.19 (about $778 USD), arrived in roughly two weeks without custom sizing and tailored to her height: tulle layers, train, corset back, hidden bustle. The shop then vanished from Etsy.
• Has been in touch with her for a custom gown inside a 500 budget; rates the customer service and notes she designs her own gowns rather than copying, unlike the big overseas copy sites.
• Three separate buys that made up the outfit: a corset about $200, satin roses about $40 that she sewed into removable drop sleeves, and an ivory tulle overskirt with train about $70.

What brides warn about

• Calls it a crapshoot because the platform does little about scammers and dropshippers. Buy only from established, well-reviewed dressmakers with real exchange or return terms, and order early for shipping and alterations.
• Searched Etsy, Google and Instagram and could barely find the shop; the bio link was broken, it had 12 sales, and every dress showed one left in stock while offering sizes 2 to 14 at prices too low for the look
• Six months on the shop had roughly 275 sales and 50 reviews with photos of buyers wearing the dresses; she attributes the low prices to the exchange rate and had found another buyer reporting a good experience
• Sent measurements, got status updates for weeks, then received a dress that did not fit and looked much worse than the listing. Rescued by the third local tailor she called, for twice the dress price.
• Sent almost exact measurements and the gown arrived too big and awkward on her, filling out badly and reading as pregnant; she went from dream dress to hating it in one try-on and is trying to resell.
• Went through the shop's photos and rates the materials as ordinary 300-pound-dress quality; the chiffon looks rough and vacuum packing leaves creases she has seen defeat a professional press.
• $442 plus about $25 customs for a made-to-measure gown. Arrived as a lower-quality copy: different lace, narrower neckline, bust cups set too high, wrong colour. Seller pushed back on fixes.
• Says the listing shots are well staged but the customer photos look like a 300-pound gown; the same factory design can differ in silk versus satin and in how many underlayers it carries.

How it compares

The median across every route in this dataset is $850, a bridal salon runs $1,900, and secondhand sits lower again. A shop is worth judging against the route it belongs to rather than against the whole market, which is what the where-to-buy page sets out.
