David's Bridal: What Brides Paid
318 prices reported at David's Bridal run a median $445, from $65 to $3,500. That sits below the $850 median across every route in this dataset. Separately, 295 brides described what the shop was like to deal with, and 66% of them recommend it.
What brides paid
Every row is one bride: what she paid for the gown, what the tailoring came to when she reported it, and the year.
| Gown | Tailoring | Year | The account |
|---|---|---|---|
| $65 | – | 2023 | Hoped about 500; David's Bridal clearance 65; alterations pending for a July 2024 wedding will likely exceed the dress |
| $141 | – | 2025 | Cheap in-store buy she has no regrets about; says ordering online would have made her nervous. |
| $200 | – | 2018 | Grabbed it as a fun first try-on and it turned out to be the dress; still gets compliments |
| $250 | – | 2024 | Clearance rack, fit like a glove with no alterations, walked out with it the same day |
| $300 | – | 2016 | New with tags plus an extra belt; David's Bridal was asking 550 for the same gown. She warns listings include knockoffs of varying quality. |
| $370 | $600 | 2026 | Clearance gown that felt well made; the 600 of alterations covered a bustle and steaming as well as fitting |
| $440 | – | 2023 | Bought on sale; expects to spend $300-600 more on alterations, which she says applies at any price point. |
| $500 | – | 2025 | Sister's long-sleeve old-Hollywood dress on sale at David's Bridal for 500; alterations sizable but unstated; looked like several thousand |
| $500 | – | 2022 | Just under 500 (upper bound); full-length white gown, no alterations needed |
| $600 | – | 2022 | 600 new from David's Bridal; may self-hem for a barefoot beach wedding and add cups |
| $800 | – | 2026 | Daughter-in-law's gown bought on sale |
| $1,000 | $700 | 2025 | Good quality for the price; about $700 of in-store alterations because a lot of work was needed; little styling feedback |
What brides recommend it for
- Plenty well under 1000 and good quality; she was nervous about going in but found the staff helpful. Her one warning is to wait for a sale, since a 20 percent off everything promotion landed two weeks after she bought.
- Found the gown she actually loved there while browsing alone, after buying a different dress on a shopping trip with her mother; she then sold the first gown on consignment. Prices not stated.
- Both her daughters bought there; staff respected the stated budget rather than pushing upward. She advises keeping the gown at or under 350 of a 500 budget to leave room for alterations.
- Pulled off-the-rack gowns and photographed the tags of floor models with a stylist; paid in full at the appointment, delivery about a month later, alterations booked through the store.
- Visited three branches as a mid-to-plus-size bride; two were excellent and consultants went further than the high-end shops. Floor samples look tired but the ordered gown arrives new.
- Rates their construction above the pop-up shops and boutiques she tried: more layers and more boning through the bodice. The online photo of her own dress looked nothing like it.
- Bought from the Galina Signature line and the dress arrived within four weeks. At 5'3 and 90 lbs she needed alterations regardless; those took about six weeks over two fittings.
- Former stylist who recognised the exact gown. Calls it a good choice at a great price, but says the waist ribbon is cheaply stitched in and should be swapped for a proper belt.
- Good affordable range you can try on in person; she suggests using the store to find your style then hunting it new-with-tags on Poshmark, StillWhite or Facebook Marketplace
- Found the WG3892 eyelash lace sheath on clearance in store for $450 in her exact size after the website had shown it sold out; boho styles elsewhere were far more expensive.
What brides warn about
- Speaks from working with them: hard to deal with on returns and on items that arrive damaged through no fault of the customer, and points at their repeated bankruptcies and Better Business Bureau reviews
- Found her dress there for $700 after trying on many cheap ones; a good dress there is the exception. Her seamstress upgraded the zipper and chest mesh and guests assumed it cost over $2,000.
- The dress ordered in her size arrived with zippers and clips hanging off, a frayed hem and snags. Check it on arrival - you only get 7 days from when it reaches the store to return it.
- Sample was two sizes too big and the appointment was in an ordinary fitting room with no pedestal, lighting or full-length mirror; stylist seemed brand new and her mother did the work.
- Canadian branch: an hour before anyone spoke to her despite an appointment, three of her chosen dresses never pulled, nobody free to zip her. She left and bought consignment for $895.
- As a bridesmaid she was measured without the tape touching her and pushed into a size 12 when she wore a 6; another bridesmaid's dress arrived far too big and needed emergency straps.
- Dress had not been started on the promised collection date, along with four other brides marrying that weekend; the manager was indifferent and her mother-in-law finished the work.
- Bought and altered there, taken from a size 6 down to a 2; brides rate the alteration work above the brand's own model photo, but the gown is fully lined and heavy for August
How it compares
The median across every route in this dataset is $850, a bridal salon runs $1,900, and secondhand sits lower again. A shop is worth judging against the route it belongs to rather than against the whole market, which is what the where-to-buy page sets out.
