What brides recommend it for

• Grey lace midi that she says is very well made, fits fantastically and looks far more expensive; needs almost no alterations but the open back rules out a bra. Comes in white, ivory and several colours.
• Boho designer dupes for a casual beach wedding; details are slightly off but many vendors do custom sizes, and the easy returns let you test a stock size then reorder to measurements
• Bought a $200 wedding dress online after salon gowns at $2,000 to $3,000 left her cold; says she loves it and advises brides not to feel pressured into buying on a shopping trip.
• Bohemian lace gown from a Chinese seller, ordered one size under the chart; hips fit, bust snug. Heavy sturdy fabric with a nude lining, worn as the reception dress.
• Around $200 for a Flora and Lane dupe, with several similar options in different configurations. She married the weekend before posting and guests raved about it.

What brides warn about

• Ordered it six weeks out as a no-loss hedge; mostly liked it and kept it but will not wear it as her wedding dress. Reports her bank details were stolen the day after buying from the brand and asks whether others have had that.
• Bought tulle skirts at $30 with a choice of lengths and rated them fine, but returned them because of the volume they add at the waist; she expects bridal shop versions to have the same problem and to need tailoring.
• Bought an apparently identical lace gown for $160. The lace was incredible and it arrived unlaced with a corset back, but the inner layer felt stiff and the bodice fit oddly, so she did not use it.
• the bride who asked loves the dress she bought here, but the strapless bodice with an open corset back has no structure to support a large bust and she cannot afford to have it rebuilt.
• Replacement gown bought there weeks before the wedding was pretty but arrived far too long with no time left to hem; she puffed it out with a hoop skirt instead
